My Yarn Pictures #2

Hi again. I have some more pictures up on Flickr.

This bunch is of Captiva, new this season from Berroco.

Note: The lighting levels on this bunch was tricky, with the reflective qualities really adding a lot of contrast from the start, but those same qualities added so much motion to the shots that light placement was easy. (Now if I could only get a better zoom… These hanks are SMALL!)

This next batch is of a discontinued yarn, also from Berroco, called Pure Merino Heather. The cable twist gives the fiber a real organic flow, contributing beautifully to the defined, yet soft, texture.

Thanks for checking it out!

My yarn pictures

I really dig textures and colors. Photographing yarn is a great way for me to express that. From time to time I will be posting some of the pictures that I have taken. I hope you enjoy them!
These 4 are of Grignasco Knit Merino Silk, a beautiful laceweight yarn from Italy.
I love the the way the light adds a heather quality to this finely textured 2-ply fiber.
The colors are very subtle and not overly saturated.

These 4 are of Berroco Versa (which happens to be my favorite new spring yarn from that company!)
The flattened ribbon texture really plays with the light and gives this yarn a certain “crisp” quality. Plus the colors are just magnificent!

If you enjoy these pictures, please see more at Jonathan Paquin’s photostream on Flickr.com.

Thanks for checking it out!

Shudda’s Cloche in Lang Seta

Last week Linda Arthur came in to Yarn-Shop looking for something to knit this project. She mentioned silk and the color maroon. I knew just the yarn. I found Lang Seta in our warehouse and voila! She just brought in her version of Modest Cloche by Jennifer Hansen done in Lang Seta.

On a similar subject: Linda is a member of our Yarn-Shop Group on Ravelry.com. To celebrate Ravelry, we will be spotlighting folks in the Yarn-Shop Group on our blog, featuring projects they have on Ravelry as well as yarns they used for those projects.

Thanks, folks, for making Yarn-Shop part of your day!

Malabrigo Lace Baby Merino

 Malabrigo Lace Baby Merino
yarn is a classic single roving
fingering weight with
outrageously attractive colorways.

Made of 100% Superfine Merino Wool,
Malabrigo Lace Baby Merino
comes from Uruguay,
and has been bred by a handful of ranchers
in the Northern part of the country for generations.

I normally post pictures of colors
that really pop out at me visually,
but with the Malabrigo Lace Baby Merino,
I fell instantly in love with each colorway
we chose, so I posted them all!

Some consider it to be the industry
standard for merino laceweight hand-dyes
and we here at Yarn-Shop concur.

It has the softest hand and the finest
colors of any comparable yarn while
remaining impressively competitive pricewise at $9.90,
and generous yardage at 470 yds/50g hank.

that are sure to make
your groovy fashion sense
a topic of conversation!
